WHO ARE
WE? Founded in 1996, the
Halifax Regional Police Youth Program is a volunteer based non-profit
program for youth age 14 - 19 interested in policing. The Program
offers a structured learning atmosphere and teaches citizenship with
an emphasis on leadership and voluntary service to the community.
WHERE DO WE OPERATE?
The Program operated in the areas
within the Halifax Regional Municipality presently served by the
Halifax Regional Police. A unit is currently present in the
community of Dartmouth. They also offer support to other
areas within the Municipality. Interested youth can apply to the
closest Unit.
WHAT WE DO
There are seven Program Elements each
unit is responsible to explore during the program year. These elements
are: Health, Environment, Community, Vocation, Justice, Education, and
Ethics.
It is these topics that give each Unit its unique flavor and
individuality. They allow for exploration beyond policing to make
participation in the program a much broader experience for all
members. |
